I'm thinking about buying a Canon SD600 and it only comes w/ a 16MB memory card, but I have no idea how many pics I can even take with that. Should I look into getting a card with a larger memory?

You cant have too much memory when it comes to a digital camera. Get the biggest card available if you can afford it. Higher resolution shots can be blown up later or zoomed in on when vewing on your computer. The greater the detail the better. I personally take everything in high res. I would rather have fewer shots but have all of them look excellent in quality. Have fun with your new camera.

That memory card is pretty useless -- (and this camera is limited to jpeg images -- which are good for most casual uses) -- only 4 to a max of 12 shots before the memory card is filled up.

So unless you want to be really frustrated (and I own the Canon Digital SLR EOS Series camera) -- I would spend the $70 or less and purchase a 1 gig SD Card (or larger -- check prices and the camera's instruction book). I found out that as I switched mostly to the Digital SLR from the Film SLR -- I end up shooting MORE (MUCH MUCH MORE) and that means I eat up space on the Memory cards fast. (plus, the SD card can also be read by most computers now, as well as powering a variety of PDAs, MP3 Players, as well as the camera).

I just bought that same camera and bought a 512 mb card for it as well. You can find pretty good prices on bestbuy.com or by going to a Best Buy (or equivilent) store. a 16 MB card can probably only store about 8 pictures at the fullest resolution (highest quality) size. If you don't mind downloading pictures all the time onto your PC, you could keep the little 16 MB card! But it is much more convienient to buy a larger sized card but keep in mind, that memory cards can fail, so don't wait 2 months to download the pictures from it. Memory cards aren't too expensive, I got my 512 MB SD card for only $40... That can hold plenty (thousands at the lower quality) of pictures and video as well so keep that in mind too... Good luck!

All cameras come with this minimal memory to get you started
If you are going to take a lot of shots then a minimum of 1GB is best but there are now 2GB sd cards available best place to buy is e bay much much much cheaper than the high st
