The blue casing is destroyed, but there is a large piece of the green and the entire black insides that we managed to save. I have tried Ritz and they sent it back saying it is not recoverable. The pictures are from a recent vacation to somewhere where we will not go again. I know I should have kept them away from the dog. I thought I did, but she climbed a shelf on the bookcase. I need to know what else I can do or if anyone else has saved photos from this type of disaster. I have callsed the SD and got a recomendation to call this other company, but they said that it could not be done either. I refuse to believe these photos are lost forever. Please help.

The previous answers are reasonable answers, but ... If by the "black insides" you mean the silicon chip itself, then it might be possible to retrieve the photos if the chip is not cracked and money is no object.

I don't know where to go, but there might be some company that could recover this data. They are always quite expensive. The company "Ontrack" recovers data from broken hard disks. I'll bet there is someone who does the same for solid state media.

Well I don't know what to say. If the card is badly damaged then you probably have lost the files. But, as the previous answerer said...you can, in some cases recover files (but it would be very costly) Is it worth it?
Perhaps its just a learnt lesson for you...I always upload my pics to the PC as soon as I get home. And on long vacations, I always back up my pics every night onto a portable mini hard drive (for peace of mind)
Solution..........
don't let it worry you too much, its not the end of the world....buy some postcards of where you went...or go there again sometime ......and don't forget to muzzle your dog in future!

I'm afraid that the pictures are lost. Anything that would physically crack the outer case of an SD card would also destroy the inner circutry and most of the thousands of micro connections that are contained within the chip. There would be no possible way of repairing this.
