I don't understand the jargon of pixels... zoom... etc. and then again i don't want to spend 1000s of dollars.. I want a decent camera to take good pics for my own personal use. This would be my first camera that i will purchase.

I just got a new digital camera the other day and finished reading through the manual tonight. In regards to one of the settings on my camera, the manual reads, "When you take pictures in dark places, noise may become visible. To prevent noise from becoming visible, switch [setting] to [setting]."

What the heck does that mean? How does noise become visible!? Will it actually show up when I take a picture? I am so perplexed!!

I am a photographer and when I do weddings I do a lot of double exposed pictures but I cannot find a digital camera that will allow me this capability. If there is a Canon, that would be even better!!

Ok I asked a question before about getting a digital camera but didn't get a strait forward answer so Ima rephrase it. I want the best camera possible but it still has to be compact and cute. LOL! Price is not an issue. Can anyone make any suggestions? The one I'm currently am looking at is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01P and the link is http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?storeId=15001&catalogId=13401&itemId=96350&catGroupId=24999&modelNo=DMC-FX01P&surfModel=DMC-FX01P&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702

Any suggestions? PLEASE! I need to get my camera before I go back to Canada on the 26th.

I have a Sony Digital Camcorder that has zoom. I realized that I take many photos than I do movies so I started looking at Digital Cameras. Typically cameras advertise 3x optical plus 2X digital zoom this is a far cry from the 10X Optical and 120X digital that my camcorder advertises. My question is, are the numbers measuring the same thing? Is 3X Optical on a Digital Still camera the same as 3X Optical on a Camcorder?

Every time I attach photos for email they take forever to attach. I upload the picts to iPhoto on a PowerBook G4. They are formatted as JPEG images size 2592X1944 in between 1.3 -2.4MP. Is there any way to "downsize" them so they can attach faster without using any compressiion progarams? I'm going on 25 min. attaching 2 pictures (4.3MP total) in yahoo mail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've only ever used point-and-shoot digital cameras, and would appreciate knowing what short-cuts can help in the heat of a photo moment.

I am planning a trip to Tanzania safaris. A digital camera is no brainer. However, considering between a digital SLR (dSLR) and a standard digital point & shoot (P&S) camera, I find it hard to justify the cost of dSLR.

Film SLR's provided 2 advantgaes over P&S cameras: a) interchangeable lenses and b) WYSIWYG pictures.

With P&S cameras advancing so much these days, we get P&S cameras that have zoom ranges longer than 400 mm (e.g, considering the 1.6x differential between the 35 mm format and the digital CCD format, a standard 10x optial zoom in a typical P&S digital camera gives you a zoom of about 400 mm). With image stabilization added in P&S cameras, I do not see a distinct advantage with dSLR's.

So, if I choose a P&S camera that has:

1) 10x or longer optical zoom
2) image stabilization
3) manual settings for ISO, aperture, and shutter speed
4) fast lens at higher zoom ranges
5) minimum shutter lag

Why would I need a digital SLR?

I received a camera bag as a gift and it was too big. The people that owned the camera store told the person that bought it that I could return it if I needed. When I went to return it to get a smaller size, they told me I could only have store credit (they are not the most honest people)

Anyhow, I'm looking for something that costs around $14 that would be a good thing to buy for my Nikon D70.

It is a small local store and their prices are about double what you can find online, so I guess it needs to be closer to like $7.

The only thing I can think of is a pen brush thingy and maybe some canned air or something.

Thanks
