Actually there just may be a way to recover your files.
I depends on your camera, and what sort of formating that it did.
There is some software that can recover files from thumbdrives and memory cards if it is corrupt and 'quick formatted'. I used RecoverMyFiles when i had a similar problem and was able to save all my stuff. Of course the program is a little expensive (About $70 last I checked) but there are other ways to acquire software if you're so inclined ;)

There are many recovery software programs available. If you are using some kind of Flash card, Make sure that it is for removable media and not hard drives that are installed in a computer or laptop. Check Download.com or tucows.com for reviews and trial software. Buy the one that works. Not all can recover from a reformat. So try all the highly rated ones. Be sure to save the results to a directory on your computer and not to the flash.

If you are talking about a directory on your computer then you need to use a program for a hard drive. Be sure to save to removable drive and not the same drive you are using. If you are talking about a hard drive on a computer, I hope that it is not the same computer that your are posting this question on. The more you use the same computer the more chances you are taking that the lost files will be written over as the format will make the the lost file space free and other files (Internet temp files and cookies) will be written over the space, making recovery impossible.

Good Luck.

If you pressed format text and now all pics are gone, you may recover formatted files with format recovery software. This is because that computer system will only mark the space of deleted files as free, and never wipe the actual data of lost files. However, system deleted file table which records files entry points. So it is not easy to read deleted photos, however, with recovery software like asoftech photo recovery, it is easy to get back deleted formatted images from sd card.

I'm so sorry. You changed all your pictures to text format, and now they are gone. You could try pushing ESC or UNDO, but most likely you have just experienced an unwanted lesson on how to live through adversity.

You need to be thankful that you have begun your path to enlightenment in a relatively soft way. Accept my best wishes.

Oh, gosh, I feel for you!!!

If you pressed "format" you're out of luck regarding your pictures. However, you now have a fresh, clean disc/chip to go make more...

I've done it before by accident, too. There's some wonderful words you can say to help you feel a little better, but they aren't printable.

I hate to break the news to you. But they're gone. I've done it before. I once spent three hours taking pictures of houses all over town for work. And for some unknown reason, I hit that devil button, they all erased. If it helps any, my sister did the same thing to her video camera that had her first child's first few months of life on it. All gone.

I know, it sucks.
