Cameras (Consumer Electronics) - June 2006

I've just bought a Canon 30D digital SLR and my old 70-300 telephoto lens won't work so I need to upgrade.
What's the best lens to get? I mostly do wildlife and sports photos with this lens, sometimes in poor light. And I'm an enthusiastic amateur on (a bit of) a budget.

What digital camera should I buy for this job?

I am looking for a reliable digital camera with a low price. I will be taking pictures of inventory for the car dealership I work at. I was using my Rebel, however it is a bit bulky and gets to be a pain when I am walking the lot. Can anyone suggest a small camera that might do the job?

Please help me out in buying a digital camera?

My budget is $150 - $180. I dont want a complicated model - just a simple yet long lasting camera to send photos viz email. I would go for a bigger memory capacity.I'm really new to buying cameras so please help considering me an absolute beginner. What is meant by Megapixel?LCD?What does it say about a camera? Please mention any warranties, if provided. Also, if you could mention whether it's available @ Walmart.

Traditional SLR or Digital SLR?

I've had a friend suggest I should get a cheap 2nd hand traditional SLR and a negative/film scanner as opposed to Digital SLR. Do you think this is a good idea? According to him the quality will be far superior.
