The camera has a USB cable but the computer does not recognize the camera (it does not show up in "My Computer" when plugged in). Is some type of software required to add the camera? If so, can I download it, from where?

I purchases a sony camcorder from the middle east in '97 the model is CCD-TRV54E-PAL. It uses a NP-F530 battery that uses infolithium. The battery is dead so, I was wondering if I can get a battery from a store with the same 7.2v rating but it has 1800mah instead of the one that i'm using which has 1350mah, the on that i'm buying is not sony but digipak brand, but is meant for sony. It doesn't say "infolithium on the one that i'm buying.
Is " infolithium" necessary for a replacement battery, or is a giimmick of sony to buy their batteries. I was also looking at another battery meant for sony, digipak brand, which has 7.2 volt but instead of 1350mah it has 4500mah, would the high mah rating damage the camcorder, or would it make the camcorder last even longer.

By the way does mah rating, make devices last longer, or is it a higher output rating.

Ok, I'm an old film guy. I have a few questions before I purchase a digital camcorder. If you can help me, Tks.
Mini-DVD. What is it? How do you play it on your TV? Is it erasable? How long are they? If I can record from my camcorder to my computer will I need more than one? Is a specific tape Format necessary for a specific camera.
DVD. Is this a DVD I can play on my already hooked up DVD player? What disadvantages or advantages is there in DVD - vs - Mini-DVD?
What software is required?
Ok. I'm going to be doing a lot of traveling next year and I want to document it. I don't want to compete with Tom Hanks and make a blockbuster of a motion picture. What do you suggest?
Thanks.

I have a widescreen miniDV video of size more than 5 GB recorded from Canon ZR700. How do i split it without any quality/dimension loss? I have the AVI file in Harddisk. I don't have the video on the miniDV tape. Is there any software which will split it so that the individual pieces also plays (in computer) and is of the same quality as the source.

Hi, I have a Sony DCR TRV 22E, I need to use my camera for monitoring only or as a webcam, not recording. How could I prevent my camcorder from shutting down itself? Because usually when not recording the camcorder would shut down to save the battery power. Thanks a lot.

Like you know how you can record things on a portable cassette recorder? Do they make those where you can record CDs? I am making gifts for my nieces. Books on tape, unless I can make books on CD. That would be much more convenient. Thanks for your help!
