The camera has a USB cable but the computer does not recognize the camera (it does not show up in "My Computer" when plugged in). Is some type of software required to add the camera? If so, can I download it, from where?

I suppose there's a driver CD in your camera's box? If not, or if it doesn't work, you can try downloading the required drivers and softwares from JVC's website.

After you download the driver you need to tell WMM what the video source is to be. Once you do that then you use the capture from that source to put the video on disk. Be sure that there is enough disk space and that you defrag the drive before you capture. I use a seperate drive for capture so that there will not be any dropped frames. I have a UltraScsi controller and drive for capture. This is the fastest drive controller combo and I can reformat it to clean it up.

You will probably need a video capture card to hook up either via RCA plugs or a USB cable.
