I purchases a sony camcorder from the middle east in '97 the model is CCD-TRV54E-PAL. It uses a NP-F530 battery that uses infolithium. The battery is dead so, I was wondering if I can get a battery from a store with the same 7.2v rating but it has 1800mah instead of the one that i'm using which has 1350mah, the on that i'm buying is not sony but digipak brand, but is meant for sony. It doesn't say "infolithium on the one that i'm buying.
Is " infolithium" necessary for a replacement battery, or is a giimmick of sony to buy their batteries. I was also looking at another battery meant for sony, digipak brand, which has 7.2 volt but instead of 1350mah it has 4500mah, would the high mah rating damage the camcorder, or would it make the camcorder last even longer.

By the way does mah rating, make devices last longer, or is it a higher output rating.

So will the 4500MAH work, or is it too powerful?

The Sony nfolithium battery is used by your camcorder because there are seperate voltage taps on the battery. The NP-F530 battery has been discontinued for about a year. It has been replaced by the HP-F570 which is a 2200mAH unit. The link below will show you the battery in the original package.

"mah" stands for milli-amp hours -- basically, how long the battery will last. The 1800 will basically last a third longer than the 1350. "Infolithium" is just a brand name -- like anybody can sell facial tissue, but there's only one Kleenex.

Oh, and if you want to know how you can trust my advice -- I used to sell camcorders and other home electronics for a living.

mah stands for the storage capacity of the battery. The higher the better, but you need to meet or exceed the original specs. 1800 mah is higher thatn 1350 so it will work, but an 1800 is not enough power for the 4500mah.

You can find your replacement battery here.

You will be fine as long as the voltage is the same as the old battery. The higher the mAh (milli Amp hours) the longer the battery will last.
