When I take a movie from my camera it saves it as a .avi file. Then when I try to upload in onto certain sites is has to be under 100mb in size. The movie is 500mb. Is there anyway ( I know I might lose some quality ) to somehow make the video smaller WITHOUT shortening it?? Thank you for you help.

I have a few questions.
what do you prefer and why:

a miniDV camcorder or one that records to a Harddrive.

my goal is to be filming stuff like when im snowboarding, stuff like that. 'action' stuff. so wouldn't the harddrive be not reliable? (from shaking etc.)

and also, is there that big of a difference between the just 'regular' miniDV cams and the ones that boast HD?

thanks.

-Kev

I would be glad to hear any recommendations.

I am looking for something reasonably small, cheap and with good quality video and sound.

Also I'm going to be taking it mountaineering, so if it was a wee bit hard to break that would be an added bonus.

Cheers
