anybody have a DVD recorder? im thinking of buying one because right now what we have is a regular camcorder, and it sucks when i have to transfer it to a VHS tape (which is already obsolete) for my mom.
questions:
1. with the DVD recorder -- can you really actually watch it as is on your DVD player?
2. is it rewritable? let's say you were to film an event for only 30 minutes and you still have some space left -- can you add more filming to that? and let's say there is a section of the film that you don't like, can you record on top of that?
3. any good brands? any recommendations?
4. is it worth it?

im just asking it over here because i come home late at night and the stores are already closed so i can't really ask the people who work there. i want to give it as a gift to my mom, and hopefully it's easy to use. she's been bringing this bulky camcorder everywhere and it's heavy for her. i saw that the dvd recorder is lighter.

These days even cheap watches are waterproof down to considerable depth. One would think that it would be just as easy to waterproof cameras and camcorders.

Hi I'm looking for an affordable hard drive camcorder and was looking at the DXG 305V. I was wondering does anyone know can you transfer video right from the camera to a computer ? Also anyone who has one of these can I ask how the quality of the video is ? Thanks so much. Below is a link to the camera I'm looking at.

I convert movies from my DV camcorder, and some video clips from the internet, however the audio levels always seem too high for the DVD standards, so I have to lower them with an editor (just by guessing what they should be). Usually it works out fine, but knowing what the max and min levels would help.

The camera is a Canon NTSC ZR60. I have had it for a couple years. I can still play back video on it so the screen itself must not be the problem.

I am confused about the PAL/NTSC formats. Here in USA we use NTSC and in India they do PAL. I am planning to gift a video camera to some one in India and I want to buy it here, in USA. What are my options? If I bought a DVD camcorder, will the DVDs work from dvd players in India? Can I connect camcorder with AV (Red, Yellow, white ) cables to the TV directly? Is miniDV better option than DVD camcorder in this situation?
I appreciate all answers.
Thanks.

I have a Panasonic DVD camcorder model d105 and a PowerBook G4. Before I purchased the camera, both Panasonic and Mac told me this will work...it's not. iMovie wants it imported via a firewire cable and the camera just has usb and s-video. Any ideas. I'm ready to through it out the window... I can still return it (I hope). Any suggestions on a camera?
Thanks in advance.
