"Pixels" is short for "picture element". The more pixels, the higher the resolution (and the sharper the picture -- especially if you enlarge it later). More pixels also use up more memory.

Which one is best for you? Try the consumer reports site. One allows you to read for free, the other charges a small subsctription fee. Compared to the price of a camcorder, a small subscription fee is cheap.

Keep in mind that the only real way to compare camcorders is to go to the store and pick one up. Only you can decide what camera feels right in your hand, and which one has the best looking picture (best looking to you). After reading the articles to get an idea of which cameras might be worth trying, head to Best Buy. I heard that JVC or Cannon is fairly good (Fuiji Film gets mixed results, depending on which one of my friends that I ask).

ignore about pixel counts - they're meaningless. also ignore about digital zoom numbers - they're meaningless, too! Optical zoom is extra functional yet do not use it as a range criterion - something more desirable than x20 ish is a mixed blessing. If enhancing is significant to you, keep on with MiniDV. It also has the earnings of being the perfect high quality and it is the most inexpensive. That sounds counterintuitive, besides the undeniable fact that the more moderen formats are promoted as being "cutting-side" and "beautiful" and they get fee tags to examine! are not getting a DVD depending camcorder - they're tremendous in theory yet awful in prepare. Sony, Canon, JVC and Panasonic all make sturdy camcorders and also you'll get countless functional suggestion from comments and own recommendations. it is a own selection besides the undeniable fact that - the camcorder needs to experience tender once you take advantage of it and the controls might want to be properly positioned and intuitive. you do not prefer to bypass over the shot of an complete life because you won't be able to discover the on button!
