I need advice on High Definition Camcorders. Any recommendations?
Also, what are the upsides/downsides of the JVC everio (Hard Disk camcorder)

One problem with the JVC is that it is not Hi Def. It does have a Hard Disk, which is what HD means on this model. See first link below. The second link is JVC's Hi Def Camcorder MSRP 3,500.00!

The third link shows a relatively inexpensive HD camcorder.

My personal opinion is camcorders are not ready for HD yet. I have a digital camcorder that shows quite good images on an HD TV. I would recommend getting a mini DV camcorder now and plan on getting HD in a few years after there are more players competing and the quality is settled and prices are not so outrageous.

I would think that anyone who buys a camcorder today will be disappointed in it within 18 months. The reason is because camcorder technology is rapidly changing. I think in 18 months we will see flash drive camcorders. I don't think tape will be a major medium for home videos anymore.
My advise would be to purchase a medium level Mini-DV camcorder or perhaps an entry-level DVD camcorder.
I would keep in mind that whatever I buy today I will be replacing in a couple of years.

Hi,
I use cheapest prices search engine to both compare prices and read the consumer written reviews. They have almost every store on the internet and over a million consumer written reviews.
I hope this helps you.
