Problem with a hi8 tapes?

I have a camcorder that uses hi8 tapes. I have several 2 year old tapes that I tried playing but I can only hear what is on the tape but the screen stays blue. Only 3 out of 20 tapes to this. What do you think is the problem?

only 2 years old tape couldn't give such a problem.the only thing that could b is somehow the tape got damage,for example : mould
