hey, i want to be a movie producer too. i got a camcorder when i was 13, i got a canon, im 17 now and it still works. if you want to only spend $150 you should be able to get one from ebay. get the one i got. get the canon ZR-85, it is a really good camcorder, it has lasted me 4 years so far, i use it for movies all the time.

if you want to get a new camcorder you wont find a good one for $150. if you want a new one you should be ready to spend around $300 - $400.

Ebay is a good option for a used camcorder. Just make sure the seller garuntees the camera and will take it back if its defective. Another good site to try is www.bhphotovideo.com. They are one of the largest retailers of professional video equipment, but also good for consumer cameras. They have a great used area and inspect and certify everything they sell used. You can also check what they have as far as new camcorders. It will be hard to find one in your price range, but for a little more you can get a decent MiniDV camera. For under $150 you can get one that records straight onto a memory card. I have one, and its alright for shooting short clips, but the quality isn't great and it only works in well lit areas. It doesn't have many special features either.

That's a pretty low budget. You might want to look for a digital camera that has a movie mode.
