Software - November 2007

I still have Windows XP and it runs fine. I haven't even touched a PC that runs on Vista yet believe it or not. Is it really a must to have Vista or is it unnecessary?

It says:

The icon is Age of Empire III, I want it gone and I'm using Vista.

Is there an argument like F5=39 where I could say F5 "DOES NOT EQUAL" 39? Is there some operator that can do that? How would I accomplish that without creating an AND() argument?

My motherboard broke down which forced me to reinstall windows (XP Pro SP2) as the version on my system drive was"locked" to my old MB. I realised, after reinstalling windows, work files were gone. I thought they were gone forever. But just by chance I noticed that my antivirus program was scanning the very files I am missing. But I cannot access this nonexistant windows folder. Not Explorer, not my filesalvaging program. Only my antivirus prog can "see" the files. Is there anyway I can access those files?

I have MS Office 2003.
I have a trial version of MS Office Professional 2007.
Every time I open any of the MS Office Professional 2007 programs I am requested to enter a Product Key, or carry on without entering the product key. I carry on without entering the product key and all 2007 programs work well, but I only have a limited number of uses in the trial.
How do I upgrade to MS Office Professional 2007 without any such restrictions?

Personally I know micro works well with everything, art graphics, music, data, etc.. and mac is art & music mostly not really good with the etc's so why and how do they get the nerve???

In XP, I could take the taskbar and actually DRAG it down.
NOT TALKING ABOUT AUTOHIDE.
Like, I want to MANUALLY drag it down and hide it.
And if something, for example a chat window, becomes "active" and starts glowing orange, if I have autohide on, the taskbar just pops up again.

Hi, I'm in a desperate attempt to operate a Mac, the thing is I'm trying to extract recorded sound into Garage band, but to do so, I first have to chop it down from a stereo file, to a mono sound file, and probably afterwards convert it in to an AAF, or OAF or some other acronym. How can I achieve that on Final Cut pro, or soundtrack pro so that I can modify the file on Garage band?

Hi, I am going to be buying a new desktop for Christmas soon. It will most likely be Windows Vista, but which version of Windows Vista should I get?

There are 4: Basic, Premium, Business, and Ultimate (Basic>Ultimate is like a $200 upgrade!!)

I want to experience:
- Cool, new features that were not found in XP (like that 3D flip thing!!)
- Good security and easy to use (more or less)
- Cheapest one with most of these features above and possibily more (without tremendous increase lag)

Which one would be best for me? And why? (Especially for Ultimate... IF I am going to upgrade to Ultimate, that's an extra $200 and I want to know what I'm paying for otherwise it's like a rip-off!!).
