It says:
"Could not find this item

This is no longer located in C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop. Verify the items location and try again."

The icon is Age of Empire III, I want it gone and I'm using Vista.

Please help me.

I had this problem and asked about it here. I had deleted it from my files, but I had to shut off my computer and turn it back on (reboot) for the desktop icon to disappear.
I'm using Vista too.
Hope that helps...
Sorry, I meant I uninstalled a program...but it still showed on my desktop till I rebooted.

that result is when you not directly uninstall the applications....install again the applications, dont make shortcut to desktop, then edit the location or root of that icon where the .exe is located. then, uninstall the application completely.

That icon is not saved in the themes it seems thats why you are getting that error

Try deleting it after booting in Safe mode.

Try rebooting, and see if it's gone.
