There could be several reasons why you are dling so slow. First, it maybe your firewall. So trying unblocking BT through windows firewall or whatever you use. Second, it could be your router so try to go into your router and allow BT to access your computer (this is a little complicated and should be left for another question). And the last thing i could think of is your ports on your BT client. Depending your client, you should open the appropriate ports (Ex. 6881-6999)

A download for you is an UPLOAD for the person you are downloading from.

Upload speeds are regulated by the ISP of the person you are downloading from, plus the amount of traffic through the link ups you have established with that person/site.

For example: I have Verizon DSL and the download speeds are near 3 MB per second but my "upload" speeds max out at 600 K bytes per second. Quite a difference!

So if you take the normal slower "upload" speeds combined with heavy traffic, you'll see some very, very, slow downloads on your end.

Hope this helps.

Maybe you got a torrent of a file no one's sharing anymore? Try getting a more up to date version of the torrent file - preferably one with a lot of sources still listed in it.

Also, if you're on Comcast, you're pretty much screwed. Search Yahoo or Google for articles about what Comcast has been doing to bittorrent traffic from their users.

Then switch to DSL.
