umm it seems that a process is running on ur pc that uses that icon.
you can search it on your task manager. find a suspicous process and end the process and try deleting the icon. more to try if you have tune up software then try to delete the file by it.

if the icon still doen't delete and message prompts "acess denied" then i can't help it. You won't be able to delete because it is procted now.

When you delete the icon from your desktop, you're not deleting the program you are just deleting the shortcut to that program. If you don't want your desktop cluttered you could just make a folderr for the icons and keep the folder on the desktop.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Remove Google Earth

That should delete the whole program.Removing the icon does not delete the program. It simply deletes the shortcut for it.

If the ERROR says "The error says it's being used by another program or person!" means that if you're on standalone PC, you had opened the file or the file is already in access and that means you have to CLOSE it first then delete it. In other situation, you're in a network environment and there is or are someone else accessing the file. Then you have to LOG OFF to disconnect the intrusion and then DELETE it. Simple as that.

make sure it is not read only or write protected, check for the process by pressing
ctrl+alt+delete and then look for something like google earth, close all windows, remove in add remove, try going into the start/program menus and then clicking uninstall under the file name (google earth) one of these should work.

run chkdsk (check disk) to your inspect your hard disk for errors and try to delete the shortcut. This also works when the error says "Access Denied".
