Software - May 2007

I have a computer with Windows 95. I would like to delete that, and install windows XP. How would I go about this? It is not my primary computer.

My PC is slow, freezes, turns off by itself sometimes... I can't afford to buy anything. Most scan & repair programs will do a free scan then they want to charge you for repairing the errors and/or problems. Thanks for your help guys...

I downloaded some new fonts and used them with powerpoint and publisher for a project. However, when I print them to pdf, there's an error. I changed all the fonts to Arial, so I know it's the fonts causing me trouble. Is there anyway I can fix this. Also, I have Adobe Acrobat 4.0. Thanks.

do you have any idea on how to do this? PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! DO NOT! AND I REPEAT DO NOT TELL ME TO GO TO ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS, ITS NOT THERE!!! OK?? ITS NOT THERE!!!!!!!!!! the thing is, that all of the sudden the main interface changed languages, now all help files and everything is in english, but the main buttons like file or view are in something like german... so I cannot take it back! :(

A the moment I am using winAvi to encode video files to DVD, though recently I have been having some, problems with it. Its not the PC, because I have tried it on others.

I need something that is freeware, and has the same functionallity as winAVI.

Does anyone know of anything I could use?

I would like to go back to XP after being very dissatisfied with Vista. Since installing it, my computer is slow to open programs, slow to turn on and off, I cannot use Word or Excel 2003, & other various problems that are extremely frustrating. How nasty of Microsoft to force people to spend even more $$
on Office 2007 after buying Vista.

So, I have decided that I'd like to go back to XP. When I got Vista I had to make recovery disks. If I use those will it bring me back to XP, or will it just reinstall Vista? If not, how can I do it? I thought I heard of a way to bring your computer back to a certain date. Would it being back my XP if I brought my computer back to the day before I installed Vista? If there is no way to reinstall XP, how can I make my computer open programs more quickly and make my computing less frustrating?

What's so "WOW" about Vista anyway? I haven't seen any improvements over XP. Are lots of others disappointed with Vista as well?

In excel, a new workbook starts with 3 sheets, is there any way to protect one sheet so that "sheet2" is non-viewable unless you unlock it by password?

i hav windows vista. whn i boot up da pc a message cums up an says " the windows boot configuarion data files do not contain a valid os entry". i did NOT recieve any cd whn i bought my pc but i hav phoned up an asked 4 1. howeva i wud still like 2 sort it out be4 the cd arrives which is in 28 days! i cannot log on or whn pressing f5/f11 or summat load up windows in safe mode. so plz sum1 help me....

ive always used express for my email. but i just bought a new dell with windows vista. and it looks like outlook express is part of microsoft office and they want like $300 for it. is outlook still free or have things changed. and how can i fix this. i cant send or forward any of my mail right now.

My boss's old computer crashed and he had some things trnasferred in from his old hard drive ito his new hard drive. well there is a program that needs a shortcut. its not showing up in the start menu or on the desktop. But the program is in the shared file. When i clicked on it, it said something like, we dont know where the source is coming from and do you still wanna open it. Should i open it and see what happens even thouh they couldnt verify the publisher? thanks any help is appreciated!

Ok... Music is something I been natural at since I was young. I play guitar and piano and play mostly by ear... (like I could play titanic theme song - never having seen the sheet music)

Anyways I know nothing about where to start looking to get music from the piano, onto a cd.
I know there is heaps of equipment available for mixing sounds etc.. but I do not want to buy the wrong thing or buy something and then realise I need to buy another heap of stuff to make the first thing work. Heaps of people have told me RESEARCH before buying anything... its easy to stuff up, but thats when I was looking for studio recording equipment... and after confusing myself even further on that one, Im now wondering if there is such a thing as a program in which you can get the sound onto the pc somehow (PLEASE excuse my naivity - I have no idea about any of this) I realise If i had a keyboard, I could plug it in to the pc... maybe (If I had a program!) and can purchase one if need be.
