My boss's old computer crashed and he had some things trnasferred in from his old hard drive ito his new hard drive. well there is a program that needs a shortcut. its not showing up in the start menu or on the desktop. But the program is in the shared file. When i clicked on it, it said something like, we dont know where the source is coming from and do you still wanna open it. Should i open it and see what happens even thouh they couldnt verify the publisher? thanks any help is appreciated!

Go to the folder in the shared directory (or where that program's files exist) and click on the executable and see if the it runs. If it does, just make a shortcut to that file on your desktop and point it to that executable (right click / new / shortcut). If it doesn't run, you probably need to reinstall that particular program.

Normally, if a program is "copied" from one drive to another, it will not function, unless it was moved from one drive to another by using and imaging program such as Ghost or Drive Coyp.

Go ahead and see if the program will open, the worst that can happen is that it won't.

To create a program "Short Cut" Find the program's "Program Folder in Program Files, open the folder, find the executable file, right click on it. Now put the curser on "Send To", slide over to "Desk Top" and then left click. That will put a short cut on the Desk Top.
