It's completely free - they are easy to follow and there is everything there from beginner tutorials to advanced tutorials. If you are a "newbie" on Word, the best place to start is click on the very first entry "Get to know Word, create your first document" and go from there.

do yourself a favor get a better word processor package. one that's better than MS office 2007 and you can have it for free just download it
what you get,
word processor.
shread sheet
database
power point type package

if you download it and want to save your documents in word format you can do that so you will have no problems

do some research into openoffice 2

Also if you go to the help menu in word it should have Office assistance and Microsoft word help. Both very helpful tools.
