i need to run a course in work, but the 3 standard screen resolutions fo win 98 wont allow course to be run

well....with microsoft not supporting win98 any longer, you may be out of luck. see if you can find a newer driver for your video card. that may give you more settings to choose from, or if this is your work computer, tell them you need to upgrade to win xp.

It will not be Win98 causing your problem but a combination of your graphics card and monitor. They are what control the resolutions available to you.

I'm guessing you have a 15" monitor which will only display 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x800 at best. To get a higher resolution get a larger monitor. Check the specs of your graphics card. To run higher resolutions you will need 32Mb or more of memory.

You may be able to squeeze slightly more out of your system if you right click on a blank area of screen and left click properties. Select Apearances tab and the Advanced button. Reduce the refresh rate to 60Hz and see if you are now allowed other resolutions. Reset it to 72Hz or higher once you are complete for the sake of your eyesight.

Must be a demanding course if you need a high resolution. I'm guessing it's CAD or similar.
