Thanks for your help, but if I change the data in the 'old' worksheet, is there anyway to make the 'new' worksheet upadate automatically without having to type "=" into a cell?

Dewcoons, this is an assignment, its picky in what you have to do unfortunately :(

Just enter "=" in a cell on the new worksheet, and click on the cells you want to be transferred.

You can make links in every cell of the new worksheet that point to the appropriate cells in the original worksheet. If you update the old worksheet, those changes will be reflected in the new worksheet. Click on the new cell, enter "=", and then click on the old cell.

You can do a copy of the entire worksheet. Then delete anything you do not want in the new sheet. You right click on the worksheet tab at the bottom to Move or Copy the sheet. This will keep all the column width, formatting, etc. that a regular copy/paste loses.

Or, you copy and paste the info you want from one sheet to another.

Exactly what you are trying to do, and why you do not want to just copy, is not clear from your question.

same question from me ->why you don't want to copy & paste ?
A) right click the worksheet name there and copy a worksheet to a new worksheet. This will copies all columns & formatting over. It is much easier ! Or
B) if you want to have a link of the original worksheet, then highlight all cells you want, click to a new worksheet, right mouse click-select paste link onto the new worksheet.
Now the cells is a mirror to the original worksheet.
Maybe you can re-phrase your question more clearly if the answers are not the answer you want.
