Limewire itself is fine. It's the stuff that you download from limewire that's dangerous.

For starters, I'm going to give a quick disclaimer: Almost everything you download off limewire is ILLEGAL. If you are downloading music, movies, or any other copyrighted media for free, then it is nearly always illegal. If you don't have a problem with piracy then that's your business, but I thought I'd give you fair warning.

To actually answer your question: Alot of the stuff on limewire look like they are legitimate files that you want, like lets say a music file. But what it really is is a virus or spyware or something else. You download it, thinking its just a harmless MP3, and you infect your computer.

The Limewire core program is 100% safe to use. However, things that you download have the potential to contain a virus, spyware, or other possibly unwanted programs. Only download the Limewire client from a reputable site, be wary of what you download and run a good antivirus/antispyware program and you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes, but still with some caution .....Limewire is good for a download here or there ......there are other sites like http://www.torrentspy.com/latest.asp
that you can get more from ....but i would still be looking at the rating of the file you intend to download and the amount of people that have already done so. Always keep your virus software updated !! Good luck and happy downloading :)

as the file will be getting downoaded... some other file might be getting uploaded, but the file has to be in same directory

files in different folders will not get uploaded, only the specefic folder where u ill be downloading ill be used for uploading too

u can also limit the download and upload speed....its automaticcally compatible with other softwares like "auto power on"

limewire is a program, free of bundled software. but the downloadable material is risky. dloading programs from limewire is almost like dloading a virus. the search results are mostly spam(stephen speilberg gets a prank phone call, can you afford 0.99$ and other viruses that have the same name as that of your search file). stay away frm limewire.

hey , Lime is 100 % safe and cool .. unless ur using some proper fire wall to protect ur system from intrusions.
and also if i can suggest no matter what people say abt it's illegal to download from limewire , no body can stop u from downloading it. so go ahead.. enjoy .. but mind my first sentence.

No. It is not safe. There is a lot of Reports on it being not good. It contains lots of Mal-ware, Spy-ware, Viruses, etc. The only good part of it is searching for Music. So far, when I had it, I found good music on it that I was searching for. But for an Alternative, I Recommend, eMule (eMule.com & eMule-Project.com). It is Really good & safer. I find it as the Best.

Hope this helps.
