I am making a documentary for school, so what is the best program out there for it?

I am currently using office 95 which is rubbish and wanted a newer version. I have seen Open Office on Ebay which is cheap but will this enable me to open an excel attachment I have on an email that my current version wont allow?

What is the difference and what exactly is open office?

I'm working on a survey, i have the following data:

columns of counties in CA
Rows listing which city each person came from

IE:
Stanislaus Co. Merced Co.
Modesto Atwater
Modesto Merced
Turlock Merced

there's maybe 10 counties

I need a chart where theres a bar for each county and then that bar is broken up by how many from each city. is that possible in anyway? Maybe using pivot or something?? It's confusing me because there are different cities in each county. If it's not possible is there anyway i can get both the cities and the counties on one grpah and have it look good?

When I start my computer, it gets as far as the users screen, and then goes black. A message appears saying there is a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error" coming from "aluschedulersvc." This is from Symnatec Live Update on Windows XP. Any ideas? Bear in mind that I can't get into my computer; it boots, displays the error message, and restarts itself. Obviously, this question is coming from a separate computer.

I have imported movies from my digital camera to Windows Movie Maker before and it has worked sucessfully, but This is the first time I've tried it with an actual video camera. For some reason, When I import the movies, there is no picture, and only sound. Why is this and How can I get the picture to work too? Any ideas would be great.

If I have Windows XP now, and I upgrade to Vista, will I be able to transfer all of my music, pictures, videos and office 2003 stuff (documents, etc.) without too many difficulties?

And if I take, for instance, a Word 2007 document on a flash drive and open it with Word 2003, will it show (and vice versa)?

MS outlook crashes when sending a mail. MS error report says it is something to do with ntdll.dll issue. When I remove the network cable it does not crash. Any ideas to resolve the issue. Thanks a lot.

Is it possible to assign a colour to a letter when doing an excel document, ie: im doing the new rotas for my new job role and i want to assign a colour to E for early and L for late, i dont want it as a background colour as this will take too long to do but want it for ever time i type E or L it will come up with those colours, please help guys, im need of prooving myself he he

OpenOffice Calc has a mind of its own concerning capitalization.
If I enter x<1 it will capitalize the X.
If I enter x If I enter x it will capitalize it.
With multiple letters the first letter is usually capitalized.
I want letters left the way I enter them. How can I set that?

At my job we are contantly hand filling out certain forms. We have the idea of copying the form into a PDF. What I want to do is have "editable" boxes, kind of like a template. Is this possible to do in Acrobat? If not, in Word? Please help!
