Opera has no reliance on Internet Explorer. Ace Explorer DOES, though. It uses the IE engine, with a different user interface layer and extra features. Uninstalling IE will make your Ace Explorer useless.

Also, it's very hard to delete Internet Explorer. It's not a simple "Uninstall IE." Microsoft makes it freaking hard as crap to get rid of it. It's very hard (if not impossible) to completely remove it from your system.

You don't need to delete IE to run other browsers. In fact I have several browsers (several versions of some) because I am a website developer and need to test on them. You need to KEEP a copy of IE because Microsoft won't let you download Windows and Office updates with anything else. Your other browsers will run perfectly well with IE still sitting around. Just specify the other browser (Firefox or Opera or Netscape or whatever) as the default...

i guess the internet explorer is a browser in itself. using other browsers would somehow make your computer run a bit slower...
in terms of properties of other browsers would disagree to the formats of the other.. so, you decide which option would you like to have.
