How do I insert editable boxes into an Acrobat file?

At my job we are contantly hand filling out certain forms. We have the idea of copying the form into a PDF. What I want to do is have "editable" boxes, kind of like a template. Is this possible to do in Acrobat? If not, in Word? Please help!

You need the Adobe Acrobat program to created editable forms. While you can create the original doucment in Word, you have to have Acrobat to add the "editing" to the fields.
