was given a xp home cd need product code, can anyone HELP?

Try http://www.microsoft.com for a key or wherever you bought it at. If you have a copy from a friend, you won't be able to activate it without triggering the piracy checks at Microsoft and both you and your friend will be out of luck.

If this is being used by two people then it is illegal to use it.
you won't be able to do updates because Genuine Validation will catch the illegal copy.

If this copy is on one computer then you can contact Microsoft and they can validate the software.

if it is already installed there is a program that will extract the product key from the registry so you can write it down for future reference. It is called KeyFinderThing Lite... search Google for it.

when you buy the Windows XP it has the product code on the cd rom and you use it they have that to make sure everyone has to buy the product to use it,,,sucks huh. to bad you have to uy it huh.

It should be on the cd. Either that or its a copy and your using it would be illegal.
