Right click (You may have to hold the shift key and right click) the WAV file and click on the "Open With" option.

This will bring up a Box with the programs listed, choose the program you want it to open in, and also choose "Always Use this Program"

If you feel really good, you can open My Computer, go to Tools--> Folder Options --> File Types find WAV in the long list below, and change the program used there.

2. Click on .wav file one time to highlight it
3. Hold down alt key put cursor over file, then right-click

You can right click on the file, and go to "Open with..." and from that menu choose Windows Mediaplayer.

So it will automatically open with media player each time, you can go to the "Open With.." menu and click "Choose Program". From the dialog box that shows up find Media Player and select it, then check the box below the list that says "Always use selected program to open this type of file" and click OK.

That should do it, and if you're planning on not use Winamp anymore, be sure to uninstall it to save space and keep your computer from bogging down with unnecessary junk in the future.

Check your Windows Media Player associations to be sure that .wav is associated with the player. If and when it is it will open automatically whenever you click on a this type of file.
