I have XP home edition, and was attempting to clean up my startup programs, when I attempted to click apply or ok it gave me the message "An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an administrator account to make the specified changes", even though I'm on the administrator account (since I only have one account)

Apperentley after that, it applied the changes anyhow and restarted my computer. However when my computer restarted, it was in a Windows Classical Scheme, not in XP and won't let me change it back. Also it seems all of my Restore Checkpoints were erased, So I can't reverse the changes.

Obviously there is something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

i have old pictures of my grandparents at home and i want to suprize them by adding color to their pics. what is the best software to edit and add realistic colors to pictures that are black and white..i saw one program once, a guy was using a program to edit his old pictures and he made it colorful

when i plug in my com,it comes up with Packard Bell, then it goes to the window with a black page with white writing,and it says, windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system

you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup
using the original setup cd-rom.
select ,r, at the first screen to start repair.

i cant find a setup cd, windows was on my com when i got it, from pc world, help please,,

the website called www.powertogether.com was offering free copies of windows vista and office 2007 and the only thing u have to do is watch 3 webcasts to obtain ur copy of windows vista or if u chose office then u will get office. i signed up for it. and OMG i have vista in my desk right now :] it arrived yesterday DAYS before vista is becoming public. it came in a cd. its authentic it looks like the windows xp cd, office was a download u got a letter with the url and the product key and u download it! :] im soo glad i signed up for it. but now i gotta buy a DVD drive to install vista =/

I have an excel spreadsheet of many numbers, and I want to find which of those numbers numbers add up to a certain number. For a simple example, lets say the excel spreadsheet has the numbers 5, 7, and 9.....if I enter in "12"..I would like it to somehow highlight the cells with the 5 and the 7. If this is not possible, is there any other software that could do this?

We have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 standard on a computer that we use to print files to pdf format, but when we purchased a program that program needs Adobe Acrobat 7.0. So the tech guy uninstalled teh 6.0 standard edition and installed 7.0 reader on the machine. The 7.0 reader does not have the pdf printer with it, so can I install adobe acrobat 6.0 standard edition with the 7.0 reader already on it?

I have windows xp professional with service pack 2 and my task manager under windows security window (Ctrl, Alt, Delete) has been greyed out mysteriously, is there a setting in windows xp that causes that to happen or could there be some kinda hidden malicious code running in the background silently (such as a virus or spyware, a trojan, and such)? everytime i click the link it has something pop up to see if i want to send an error report. it says it has encountered a problem i've even tried deleting it and then reinstalling it but i still have the same problem. itunes wont even open anymore. it just goes straight to this message. someone please help!
