I would use iTunes. It does cost money, but has several distinct benfits over these free services. First of all, the downloads are lightening fast, and very reliable. All audio is CD quality. There are no questions of legality. And last, but not least, you are support the artists that make the tunes you love.
As a 'starving musician' myself, I can tell you that if people don't buy CDs or pay for their music in some form or another, people will be unwilling to become musicians in the first place. Help your favorite bands pay their bills so they can keep on writing new material!
