Security - December 2007

ok, i have virus in my computer and there will be a message "fatal system error" with blue blackground after a while i on my pc.

I tried to restart the pc in safe mode and start the anti-virus scan, but the scan will hang halfway with the "fatal system error". and i cant progress anymore.

plz help, do i need to disable anything first or smth?

When i bought A HP Laptop i got a Norton Internet security with a subscription of 60 days.
Now when it is over i have to register; when i try to enter a new product key no character is being entered in the field please help me I am in serious trouble!!!

I was told one should have only 1 antivirus and a few anti-spy-anti-adwaremalware...what is the difference in these? Thank you.

I Scan my system with free version of AVG 7.5. It shows Trojan horse Generic9.AAVL at C:\Windows\system32\dsound3.dll. and removes it.or heals it. even after restarting my computer it again surfaces and AVG detacts it.
Is there a way to deinfact. Any Free site to help me?

I want some decent protection on my new Dell laptop as i use the wireless connection some times in public places.

I was planning to go for OneCare, but Microsoft told that the subscription isn't available for my country.....I had this program for 90 day trial on my pc and really liked it!

So any other suggestions????
I kow about most of antivirus programs like BitDefender, Kaspersky, PC-Cillin, and CA...but I need some thing light as I have only 1GB of ram.

Everytime i search something it redirects me somewhere related to what i searched like if i search myspace it will redirect me to another search engine or something like myspace layouts. I already tried spybot search and destroy it picks up nothing, i have also tried using window washer and norton anti virus scan. whats going on?

Is there a way for me to prevent a person from deleting the history on my computer?

I think somebody is using my computer for the internet and snooping in my files. I know, use a password. I do but we all know how easy it is to get past that.

So is there a way for me to lock the history or maybe even bring back a deleted history?

okay my norton requires attention, it need an update because it says the last update occured pn 14/12/07. however i update it everyday. but it says i have all the software needed. but whe i click on norton it says i need to update . all help will be appreciated.. thanks

i subscribed to bullguard internet security 9 months ago for a year. Now it says my firewall needs reinstalling but to do this i need to download a 2month free trial or take out another subsciption for a year (even though i have another 3months left). I tried the live support, where you can talk to technicians and they said this is what i have to do.
I tried emailing bullguard to find out if there were any other options and, even though they have an hour email return policy i still have not received a reply
what can i do?

Somebody knows my information for when you click "forgot ID or password" and frequently changes my password, then goes in and deletes all the contacts from my messenger and changes the passwords and everything. i get automatically signed out like every 5 minutes because of someone signing in with my screen name on another computer. when i sign back in with a changed password, all my contacts have been deleted and people ask me why i said things i didnt say. what can i do to stop this? how do i report it to yahoo or someone??? i have no clue who could be doing this to me or why they are doing it!

My sister just gave me her old laptop and she apparently formatted it and just put windows xp on for me. I just installed and ran a virus scan but I still keep getting these pop ups about going to www.registrycleanerxp.com What is this? Should I do it or is it a bad thing?
