Because Nortons has been garbage from day one and continues to get worse each and every year. Hugh resource hog, that will eat your PC alive. Not really all that good at finding a virus or viruses. If found unable to clean 100%. Plus if you decide to remove, you are left with over 375 fragments of Nortons glued to your registry, files, folders and subsystem. Expect to play total hell trying to remove them even if you use their removal tools that does not work.

I'm going to assume that since you are specifically asking about Yahoo that you are saying your internet connection seems slower. If this is the case then you might want to check the configuration of Norton and see what preferences you have checked for the program ... as you may have some resource intensive options checked... such as heuristic scanning... which could cause the page to load a little bit slower if you are asking Norton to run a deep scan of each and every page (for instance).
If you do not have a machine with a lot of ram and a high speed connection then you will definitely feel an in depth scan... usually these preferences can be adjusted and are often set for things by default that you simply don't need.
Anytime you have a security suite it will be resource intensive... not because the program is bad... but because the program has many options that freeware/crapware doesn't provide. The downside is only that users do not properly configure these to run smoothely in their environment. If you've purchased the program you may want to take advantage of the technical support instead of listening to biased people who offer unprofessional incorrect opinions.
Good Luck

Norton will slow your computer way down, that is why I deleted it off mine and now use AVG.
