it sounds more like a RAM failure
try this if you have two slots of ram
1 remove 1 stick and see if the crash dissappears
2. remove the other and insert the first to see if the crash occurs
3. if the crash only occurrs when both sticks are used then i suspect the ram is not rated at the correct speed, I have had trouble with new ram failing at backward compatable speed, specially in laptops.

It's not good...
This is the BSOD - Blue Screen of Death...It only appears when there are huge problems. See how much RAM you have by going to My Computer, right-click anywhere. Choose Properties. At the General tab there should appear System, Registered to and Computer (for Windows XP). At Computer, you will see how much RAM you have. You should have a minimum of 512 MB. If it's less then you're in big trouble. You have to buy more RAM.
If not, then you have a big virus which almost destroyed your system. At this level there are few things that can help. You should either reinstall Windows or get another antivirus from a friend.
I know what you feel. I also have problems but not as big as yours. I only have 216 MB of RAM and my computer is giving lots of errors but my computer is very old and memory cards for it don't exist any longer. Maybe for you there is still a hope.
Good luck! You will need it!

If you can, go to another pc and download Avast antivirus from download.com onto a cd,[it's free], and start your pc and run the program from the cd. that should be enough to get you going.
