My friend is having computer problems. She has not had a current antivirus program since 2002! Her system is a Windows Millennium Edition, which is very outdated. Many antivirus programs don't support it. As far as I can tell, neither Norton nor McAfee are compatible. What is the best current antivirus software that will run on her system?

Both cores used to show almost zero usage when I wasnt doing anything on my pc. Now they constantly run at 25-80% usage. I have run spyware programs and have Norton Anti-virus, both show no problems. I just wondered why the meter is way higher than it used to be. Please no guessers--if you dont know dont answer--ok.

I was told to run these anti-spyware programs, windows defender,ad-aware and spyware blaster. And would like to know if it is safe to run these 3 programs at the sametime. I have ran them for a few days and have had no trouble and my pc has not slowed down. Thanks

I was surfing some guitar tabs websites a few days back when norton antivirus&windows defender started to show danger signs. In panic, saw the defender say restart your computer and so I did. When the windows started again,I couldn't open anythin&a message kept on popping
'Windows explorer is not working'
Çheck the web for solution and restart the program'
or
'Restart the program'
That time as I didn't have any antispyware program&couldn't do anythin on the computer, someone told me to recover to an earlier date.So i did&it worked. The computer had started working properly again.
After that now AVG free edition,Ad-Ware,Spybot,Norton Antivirus&the Vista's Windows Defender...none of these show any sign of virus or adware/spyware.But my concern is I see some strange links n files around. Forexample there are 2 icons for www.asecurityboard.com on the desktop and found using startup manager that there is a 'launcher.exe'file set to operate on startup.
What exactly should I do now?

I keep getting up to 20 emails a day going to bulk from the above which are known viruses on the net. I also get emails from unknown people saying there is a card attached from a family member or a friend. I never go into any of them I just delete them straight away. But I want to remove the virus from my system but not sure how. I cant find anything in system manager. I have Antivir and I send the virus to quarantine but I cant seem to do anything else to get rid? Any ideas other than take it to a computer specialist.

much appreciated

I uninstalled Norton and it's updater, afterward I did have internet connection. I then installed Mcafee Total Protection and now I can't connect to internet. How do I disable Mcafee long enough to check if thats the problem? right clicking on it's icon doesn't do the trick, neither does going into task manager :( Also, what other steps do I need to take to fix this?
If this helps, the pc is an Inspiron notebook , Windows XP. Mcafee installed without a problem, and am hoping the security settings may be the culprit, but I don't know much about that stuff.

I have a neighbor across the street that is a theft. He's been in my house before, but I can't prove it. I have to work a lot of hours away from home and I would like something I can take with me to watch my house with. I know there is software that I can buy and record to a PC, but I want something that I can watch and wait around the corner so I can catch him in that act. He knows my schedule and he waits until I go to work and then he and some friend of his that act as a lot out goes into my house. I want something I can catch him with before they get by across the street.

My computer has been infected by a trojan virus called infostealer.lineage. I can't seem to get it off my computer, i've tried using Norton and Trend Micro, Ad-Aware SE, Spy Bot, Windows Defender, AVG Anti-Spyware and I still can't seem to get rid of it. A message keeps popping up saying my computer has been infected by a trojan virus, but when i try to get rid of it, none of my anti-virus programs can seem to detect or get rid of it. If anyone knows how to properly remove it from my computer please let me know!!

I have another PC in the house that has no internet connection. I just wanted to ask if how could I update my anti-virus on that unit even without internet connection? Both of my PCs are using the same brand of anti-virus. Of course, the one with the Internet connection is always updated everyday. But what about this other without Internet connection? Is there a way to update there? If yes, what is the procedure and what are the files needed to copy from one pc (internet) to another (without internet)?
