I was surfing some guitar tabs websites a few days back when norton antivirus&windows defender started to show danger signs. In panic, saw the defender say restart your computer and so I did. When the windows started again,I couldn't open anythin&a message kept on popping
'Windows explorer is not working'
Çheck the web for solution and restart the program'
or
'Restart the program'
That time as I didn't have any antispyware program&couldn't do anythin on the computer, someone told me to recover to an earlier date.So i did&it worked. The computer had started working properly again.
After that now AVG free edition,Ad-Ware,Spybot,Norton Antivirus&the Vista's Windows Defender...none of these show any sign of virus or adware/spyware.But my concern is I see some strange links n files around. Forexample there are 2 icons for www.asecurityboard.com on the desktop and found using startup manager that there is a 'launcher.exe'file set to operate on startup.
What exactly should I do now?

My main concern is what should I do with the unknown icons and files I see around. None of the antivirus and antispywares are of any help. So should I try to manually remove them and whether it will be safe as I am not really sure, they might be part of some other program. I dont want to mess up more. But just want to get rid of all this crap once and for all...

firstly, i already had norton antivirus and the windows defender in my pc when i get the attack. after i recovered i installed AVG free edition, ad-ware and spybot also and they all are n were fully updated.
secondly, the things about which i m talking about dont appear in the add and remove menu of control panel. they are some .exe and .dll files about which i hv suspicion.

try scanning with this programs, i did it after norton got through detecting and i removed everytthing this osftware found engough to truamatize you
www.trendsecure.com and click on the free housecall download it, it will update it self and the scans
now i use trendmicro pc-cillin internet security,
the best i have ever used,
if go to a website that has spyware or malware or adware, trojans or worms or viruses a red windows will popup warning me that i have been infected, and there will be options in there ignore or remove, so you can remove the threat right then, unlike norton mcfee, you wont know your infected until you scan,

I would suggest using trendmicro, i use windows vista premium also,
plus you will have more control and more features of your firewall and it also alerts you with detail info if another computer or program connects to your computer

hope this helps some
