Malware is spyware. You can use Spybot S&D and AdAware, two free programs to scan your computer and remove the malware issues. Just download, install and scann with these two programs (not at the same time).
Also make sure that you have proper anti-virus protection. If you're not running any anti-virus sofware try AVG, it's free and comes highly recommended.

Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a portmanteau of the words "malicious" and "software". The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.

If you think your PC may be infected, scan your PC with this to remove it. Its free and safe to use.

Malware is just a general (generic) term covering all sorts of bad things, including viruses and spyware (and whatever else you might want to list separately, like worms and trojans and adware).

You should be using a firewall (Zone Alarm and Comodo make free-for-personal use firewalls), one antivirus program (I use AVG; there are many OK and some good ones), and a few spyware protection (or, detection and removal) programs (I use Spybot, Ad Aware and Superantispyware--and I find Superantispyware to be both good and annoying in its self-promotion or marketing).

You can do a free on-line scan at a number of reputable sites. I sometimes use Housecall (google Trend Micro Housecall).l

I use a program called ( appropriately enough) - Crap cleaner - for years now and it does a good job, i also use Ad- aware SE - both are free downloads and use. You can get both these at http://filehippo.com/ . The Ad- aware is under the anti- spyware section and the Crap cleaner is under cleaning and tweeking. I usually run them once a week or so.
