Limewire Pro does nothing ... no extra speed or security, I tried it, no improvements.

You have to just be careful.

Don't get a 2 minute song that take up 200 MB or MS Office 2003 that takes up 200 KB.

Size is a large factor.

Also, look at the amount of downloads. Under the # column.
Find one with the largest # that is relevant to your search.

Another thing, find one wih proper spelling, facts, names. It needs to be consistent.
Don't download greenday - don't wanna be an american idiot
Instead download Green Day - American Idiot

Also, I like to find files like this:
01 American Idiot
This way I know that they are coming directly from Someones "iTunes Music" folder. This is how iTunes automatically names the files for it's songs.

The main factor: Consistency
Think about it first!

You shouldn't be illegally sharing files over the internet. If you like the artists enough you should support them by buying their CDs. However, there are certain applications and methods that will reduce the risk of government authorities and anti-piracy organizations can access your computer. Such programs include but are not limited to Peer Guardian 2. You can also tweak your P2P settings to make sure that no one is allowed to download from your computer (Uploaders) Make sure you are not allowing other people to download files from your computer! You can find the settings for this in limewire.

those file sharing things don't crash your comp or anything. the files in them actually only look at and copy audio, video, image, documents, and programs, they don't ruin your computer. if you do have files that you don't want others to see put them onto a flash drive or an external hard drive and remove or turn them off when done. since you download the software normally the prevention system with most anti virus products asks you to confirm whether or not you want to download the file, that's how it would prevent the programs from getting on your comp in the first place. your best bet is flash drive or external. alot of the time when you tell it not to let it copy files from your computer, once you close out of the program it resets the settings for some reason, so that doesnt always work

utilising Limewire you're very extra probable to get an outbreak. except you're very savvy, have stable antivirus/antispyware protection, then stay faraway from Limewire. video clips could have code embeded in them that launch a internet site or exploits homestead windows and unloads it incredibly is payload (virus, etc.). some everybody is truthfully tricked into downloading what they think of is a video or song yet do no longer pay close interest and then finally end up infecting their laptop. So definite, his fears may be justified.

I myself have limewire and all i do is have a security program running all the time or atleast if you dont want that then you can just run it once when you turn on the computer and once when you turn off your computer. You also can just try not to keep any personal information on your computer or atleast not more than you have to.

Unfortunately there is not a way to prevent this from happening. As the government can track everything u do online. However just because you downloaded one song doesnt mean you are going to prison. Just keep it to a modest amount and try and pay for the music or whatever it is your downloading.

Simple. Stop using it. Those P2P programs leave ports wide open for police to find and track you. Or for hackers and such to drop viruses into your computer. Your firewalls wont work because the install created rules for your p2p programs that allow them to work with your firewall.

The best way to protect yourself is to not do it!

These artists work hard to produce works others can enjoy. They earn and dersever proper conpensation for that work.
