Both cores used to show almost zero usage when I wasnt doing anything on my pc. Now they constantly run at 25-80% usage. I have run spyware programs and have Norton Anti-virus, both show no problems. I just wondered why the meter is way higher than it used to be. Please no guessers--if you dont know dont answer--ok.

check your task manager and see which processes are using up the most amount of CPU. Then go into google and search for the name of the process and then if it is not an essential process end it. btw norton is called a "virus in itself" as it uses up a lot of RAM and causes computers to slow down as well.

I'd delete all temp files, cookies, trash bin etc. Close out all your programs in your task bar, then check the task manager to see what's running. It sounds like you have a program running in the background. Once you find out what it is you can either change it's settings or uninstall it.

that kind of cpu activity can mean only that something is using it for something adn most likely you don't want it to ddo that.. if antispyware and antivirus don't work you'll probably need to reinstall your OS...
