I have had 2 mother boards cook in 24 hours and the only common link between the 2 computers is the hard drive. If the virus is in the hard drive when it was taken out of the computer and put in the second one could it do the same damage? Both computers are the same make, model, and year. When the first one"quit" (would not even power up at all), we took the hard drive out and put into another computer. It worked for 24 hours then the same thing happened. Push the button and nothing..no power going thropugh it all. The chip on the mother board of both computers is melted. We did some trouble shooting as far as the power cords, outlets, and things of that nature and all is in working order. The only thing anyone can think of is the hard drive ha a virus. HELP ME Please!!!

OK, I've learned my lesson and I won't do it again. But, here's what happened when I tried to download a song. First time: After it downloaded, I moved it to my Apple library and clicked on it. Very stupid, because it was too short to be the song and was not the song. I deleted it and then tried to "empty the trash" and the song wasn't even in the trash bin. Suspicious? Then I tried to download the song from another source. It looked like it was downloading just fine. But, when it completed downloading, it just vanished. ??? I'm not usually this stupid. Is there anything I can do at this point to protect against viruses or spyware? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

My brother-in-law mistakenly downloaded this virus software from http://www.virusprotectpro.com/. There is an icon in my quick launch that flashes and says "system has detected a number of active spyware applications that may impact the performance of your computer. Click the icon to get rid of unwanted spyware by downloading an up to date anti-spyware solution".

1. When I went to remove the program it does not exist!

2. The website does not provide un-install.

3. I tried to use System Restore and it will not allow me to restore!

4. Help!!!

IF I go to court for my speeding ticket, is it true that if the officer that gave me the ticket doesn't show up my case gets tossed out? And I don't have to pay the fine?

So I have several virus protection programs.

-Windows Defender
-Ad - Aware
-Ad - Watch
-Norton
-Webroot Spy Sweeper
-PC Tools Spyware Doctor.
-PC Doc Pro

What I don't understand is that the first 6 programs tell me that there is nothing wrong with my computer but when I run PC Doc Pro it tells me that their is like 516 wrong with my computer.
Basically I want to know if PC Doc Pro just wants to suck your money (because you have to buy the program if you want to remove all the virus/junk) or is what their telling me true?

Or is their anything anyone would suggest doing? Taking it somewhere or whiping the hard drive?

I have a virus/spyware/adware/trojan somewhere, and as I've been trying to look for it to fix it I obviously head over to "safe mode," the screen shows no icons. My arrow still works (actually, the last time I tried it, it froze completely after a while), but there is nothing to click on and I end up having to just restart again in normal mode.
Does anyone know how to fix my "safe mode" so I can go in and look for the virus? This is really starting to frustrate me. A lot. Thanks.

I don't want a free one - they're crap. AVG ends important kernel processes, Avast! is just crap - so I'd like to know the best anti-virus for me to buy. Any help, please?

Thank you.

I get them randomly(and a lot) and I am 90% they don't come from the websites visit. I think I have some program generating them...if that makes any sense? Any way, I don't think a pop up blocker is the solution, I think I have to find what ever is causing this and delete/uninstall it. Can any body help me get rid of this?

Oh and I keep getting pop-ups from this so called "spyware" program, I'll update later with their name when they annoy me again. I also never had these problem until I got onto my colleges server last friday...

I've tried everything to get rid of this virus, including doing a system restore various different times as well as looking for instructions using smit fraud fix, smitRem, hijack this, etc.

http://www.pchell.com/support/smitfraud.shtml

After I do all of this and restart my computer in normal mode the popups for the anti-software services are gone but I can't access my control panel or right click on properties so something is still not right. When I try to do many things I keep getting this message: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." Please help! I don't know what to do I've looked and followed virtually every procedure I could find online and nothing seems to work. Thank you so much!

As I unlocked my computer this afternoon, I was shocked to see 20 Internet Explorer windows open, plus several spyware warnings and program install requests. I tried to close everything, but it was hopeless, so I just turned the computer off. After it rebooted and I attempted to log back into my name, it said my log-in was corrupted and that I'd have to use a temporary one. I did this, but all of the same spyware problems were present on the temporary log-in as well. I used a Spyware removal program to search for problems, but it didn't really seem to work. Then, I went through my Installed Programs list and uninstalled any I thought contained spyware. After all this, my pop-ups have stopped, and I haven't tried to log-in under my old, permanent name, but I'm really worried that I won't be able to. All of my documents AND my iTunes are on that thing!! Does anyone have any solutions to my terrible, terrible problem??
