Router Firewalls are one way firewalls. If you get infected or hacked The outgoing malware packets may pass through the router firewall unimpeded. A software firewall adds an extra layer of protection and in the case of Zonealarm and others it will warn you that a program is trying to access the internet. This could alert you to the fact that your computer has been hacked. Software firewalls don't slow your computer down and coexist with router firewalls without conflicts.
In response to the people who reply no required I allways look left and right when crossing the road even when the lights say go.

No absolutely not. The more firewalls you use, the better the chance that one day something you want will not work such as sype, msn or similar. Unless there is an untrusted computer on your local network leave your local computer's firewall turned off.

No, you don't NEED to, but many people also use a software firewall to detect malware that tries to "phone home".
