I get them randomly(and a lot) and I am 90% they don't come from the websites visit. I think I have some program generating them...if that makes any sense? Any way, I don't think a pop up blocker is the solution, I think I have to find what ever is causing this and delete/uninstall it. Can any body help me get rid of this?

Oh and I keep getting pop-ups from this so called "spyware" program, I'll update later with their name when they annoy me again. I also never had these problem until I got onto my colleges server last friday...

To get rid of your problem quick and easy, download and run SuperAntiSpyware (free)

http://www.superantispyware.com/

Once you get rid of the problem then you can start looking at a couple of other free programs like some mentioned here:

#1 download various antispyware programs. lavasoft, spybot search and destroy and maybe a third one. Run them separately and this will clean your pc.

#2 Stop using internet explorer and switch to firefox which is the best web browser no questions asked end of story and don't even bother to argue. This little changed alone will help with the popups.

#3 if you want extra protection then download and installed the "noscript" extension for firefox. By default this program blocks all script on any webpage. You then have to give the page permision which can be annoying at times. For example a movie may not play in a webpage because noscript is blocking it. However, once you give the page permision it will reload and start playing. The best part is that this program is updated regularly and you can chooce to give permision to certain scripts in that page only. So, is a decent trade off if you ask me. Also, you can give the page temporary permision to try the page out first.

You are correct, they are spyware programs that install themselves into your computer because your system got infected. The adds are coming from within your system!

They'll pay attention to every keystroke you make and pop up an add with similar matching phrases. Very annoying indeed and risky to personal data security. You might need to use anti spyware programs like Spysweeper and Norton Antivirus. Use a firewal to minimize future infection when you are done sweeping.

Spyware is basically the collective name for the several companies that collect your private info and web surfing habits without your permission using Tracking Cookies. They then use "targeted" advertising, using the collected information. And that gets annoying.
You can remove spyware by downloading spybot search & destroy and ad-aware and doing a scan and deleting all the results that find!

you can try getting the adware program that is supposed to kill spyware. try something like download.com if it still exists (haven't been there in a while). you can try it for free. but you may have to end up paying for it. i dont know but i'd say it's worth a try.
