on my laptop i got this update think for my security and it kept bugging me so i said fine..update. after i clicked everything dissapeared except my desktop background i cant even right click. everytime i start it up it goes to an empty desktop. no items no bar at the bottom. i tried looking for explorer.ex in the taskbar but it wasnt there. any help?? thanks!!

it even shows the bar at thebottom and my desktop items for a split second during the start up. if i hit f8 i can only pause the start up or delete everything being restored than it starts up. i cant even get into safe mode

i typed in explorer.exe and it appears for a second than dissapears than trys to come back than dissapears. it seems task manager is deleting it

You definitely do not have explorer.exe running. If you can open task manager(Ctrl-Shift-Esc), go to file, new task and type in explorer.exe
If that works for you email me and we can try to fix your registry.

Sounds like it. You may have to re-install windows. Unless you didn't wait for the update to complete. In any case you still probably need to re-install or go the the recovery/restore software included with windows.
