OK, I've learned my lesson and I won't do it again. But, here's what happened when I tried to download a song. First time: After it downloaded, I moved it to my Apple library and clicked on it. Very stupid, because it was too short to be the song and was not the song. I deleted it and then tried to "empty the trash" and the song wasn't even in the trash bin. Suspicious? Then I tried to download the song from another source. It looked like it was downloading just fine. But, when it completed downloading, it just vanished. ??? I'm not usually this stupid. Is there anything I can do at this point to protect against viruses or spyware? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

ok here is what I would have done but keep in mind I am not your typical user.
I would have burned a copy of the downloaded program to a cd-rom. Later I would go back and find out how it worked. I am very curious like that.
Then I would have run my anti virus software to remove the virus. I personally like Kaspersky Internet security and they also have a free trial download as well.
That software will check for virus, malware or spyware . I would also download a copy of Adaware 2007 from http://lavasoft.de Also run Spybot S & D as well to pick up any other spyware.
Every company out there calls different thing viruses and spyware and malware.
Kaspersky updates their definitions every hour unlike nortons which is every week.
Hope this helps

Hi.
If My Windows Take VIruse Or Spyware I Format It. But If You Want To Delete Your Viruses First Inistal McAfee Or Norton And Then Update Them To Find Your VIruses. I Suggest To Buy Full Version Of Norton Because It Can Repair Your Windows Damage.
Good Luck

It is universally agreed that Limewire is not safe. In fact, it is the worst downloading site available. I learned this the hard way. The hackers gravitate toward it because it provides no protection. I am surprised they worked up the nerve to charge for it. Just plain mean activity by fat bald virgins. I had to get a new computer and will never go there again.

When your downloading songs and stuff make sure you can see the size of the file ,it should show up like this-->5.435MB, that's an average size of a song so try to be more observant,
You sound like you don't have any protection which is silly, you need http://googlespyware.blogspot.com/ which is free from Google and this http://free-norton-scan.blogspot.com/ which will scan your PC and are all free.
good luck

I think you should get some type of anti virus program so that you can run a scan and catch any viruses that you may have. Also, perhaps another program, but this time for spyware.

Download a free virus scan like AVG, and see if you can determine what the virus is.
I did the same thing once when trying to find a CD crack for a game.
I would know better when looking at MP3's though.

you cant remove a virus by just deleting the file..u need a virus software to do it...or if u know the name of the virus you can look it up for directions on how to manually remove it, but this is dangerous too as you could mess up your computer. plus most directions online are for windows. just get a virus software package to get rid of it.
