I'm formatting my hard drive, so when I'm back up and running, what do I need to make it secure? I've been told that Zone Alarm and Spybot are good and should be all I need. Is that true?

i had firewall before now but disabled it and it shows as being off yet i still get this message that i can't view webcam because i am behind a firewall.

It's IE7 I'm having problems with and I've noticed it's only after security updates KB9729969 an KB931768 that I can't get into the internet. I've looked in the Windows website and it's going to cost me £40 to get any help. The only solution I can think of is going back to IE6 again.

I had and have Comodo firwall pro, Comodo anti-virus, and Spysweeper when I got them. (Yes they are updated eveyweek.) I then got AVG anti-spyware,windows definder, Spybot SD, Kilbox, and Hijackthis. I'm still having problems My PC is very slow, I have lots of popups and I don't know what two do. I have removed some stuff but I guess not enough. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I have an acer Travelmate 2300. I currently have aol antivirus, but I think it is slowing computer. I already have spybot S&D, Windows defender, Ad-Aware and also clean-up!. I just need to download a free antivirus I won't one that can protect really well and doesn't slow the performance of my laptop. I have gotta a couple of viruses before I download aol, and also with aol my computer has had weird interuptions, like freezing, can someone please help me!! also if you can prove your answer would be nice, if not the suggestion we would be helpful too, thanks!

For some reason, when I turn on my computer and click on the internet explorer icon to get online, the 1st screen that pops up is a spylocked page. I cannot get this off of my computer. How would I go about getting this off of my comp? Is there any free, safe way to get this off of my computer. Thank you for your help!

I need a free download that actually finds and DELETES the trojans or spyware that is on my desktop computer. I found some that detect it but dont delete the actual problem. Does anybody know a site that will help me?

On my laptop i have once in a while like every once out of 2 weeks or once out of 1 month

i get this thing that takes 50% controll over my mouse and keyboard and it goes to the start window (bottom left corner if u don't kno) and tries to delete everything.

Some people said it was a hacker and some say a virus and little say a trojan or whatever.

I had to reinstall my laptop though because i was messing around with the mouse when the computer was loading and i reinstalled it at this place and they reinstalled it and i didnt have the internet 4 a month and then when i got it a few weeks later i got that thing that tries to delete stuff.

So what is it? how do i stop it?
Well i use Ad-ware personal and i use windows live one care

and they don't work :(
So i'm asking what should i do 2 get rid of it?

and i'm just saying do u think it is a good idea if i delete all my internet downloading because i dont have a lot cause of the reinstalling?

i suspect that my laptop is infected with virus and spyware. if i will reload the oprating system will this clean my laptop of everything? how can i clean my laptop of spyware and virus without reloading my OS? should i worry so much about these things? i have sufficient backup of my files. thanks for the help.

This stupid site http://vcoderz.com/ keeps emailing me some junk that I can't stop. Each time it's a different emailing source and I can't stop that. It's really annoying. What should I do?? I've never given my email to this site or any site related to it. BTW, I'm using Hotmail.

I'm running windows XP BT Yahoo broadband are my internet suppliers..I've been having problems with my pages freezing and PC running slow for the past week the only things that have been downloded onto my PC are AVG spyware,windows defender and as of today Norton antivirus 2007 under the advice of Yahoo protection help desk...After downloading norton it had a big red cross saying at risk and fix now so i clicked on the fix now and it said to do a full system scan and live update the full system scan took just over 2 hrs and only picked up one low risk problem which I fixed..however the live update has been going for over 6hrs and it just says initialising connecting to live update..Am I doing something wrong for it to take this long

Bought HP4000 in Hong Kong in 2003. It has worked well until April this year - spyware and trojan virus now on it. Auto upgrades of security software have run out; windows defender not working and no free upgrades from windows. Plus the virus/spyware will not allow download or connections to other free download anti virus sites. If re-load is answer - which XP (e.g home edition, sp2...etc)? ........ don't want Vista yet!

AVG has been a better program for me and I want to keep it since I have paid for it for 2 years. It is the best program to have. I've had it for years now. I kept getting viruses etc from Norton and I kept up with all updates etc. How can I disable Norton and enable AVG?

a message that i couldn't get rid of kept popping up on my laptop, and it said "This application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem". so i downloaded it and put it into the system32 folder, and now i'm getting a message saying "Incorrect MFC Dll versions installed on the system, minimum requirement is MFC SP4 Dlls". How can i fix this?
