The use of 2 anti-virus programs at the same time can cause major conflicts. The 2 scanning engines will fight each other to scan every file that you read, write or execute which can cause a slowdown. For the same reason, using 2 A-Vs can cause you to have less protection from the various malware, not more.

(Using an anti-spyware with an anti-virus is good, however and is recommended)

You might consider choosing just one A-V and removing the other.

AVG Free is crap!

Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. These types love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!

In test,

etc. etc. etc, ad nauseam, AVG free fares poorly.

AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent "once-a day" updates.

AVG. = Average, at best!

There are much better free alternatives such as Avria Anti-Vir:

and Active Virus Shield:

There are various types of software that provide different results. Some programs have an advantage over others. I have a good SBC Yahoo! Online Protection that scans for spyware, viruses, spam emails, and pop-up ads. I also have downloaded a great anti-adware/spyware program at no cost that helps out a lot with unecessary pop-up ads. Its called Ad-Aware SE from http://www.lavasoft.com. It eradicates many adwares that may download into the registry keys of the hard drive. The best way to maintain and protect the computer is by being consistent. Also a way to prevent from future spyware and virus problems is not to leave the internet access open. That is how hijackers find their way into your computer...its because it was left open for them to get into. A slow computer can also signal the fact that the computer just needs to have excess files and unused programs removed. This can help improve computer's performance. If using Windows, pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE brings up the Task Manager screen. Here you can see how many programs are running and what is causing a drop in the speed of the computer.

Well, my own recommendation would be to decide on one particular vendor/supplier and stick with just their product. It has been found that some of the apps will interfere with the others. I administer a corporate network and we use AVG Antispyware and AVG Antivirus. No problems.
Your best policy is to make sure that whatever app you use is up to date and then disconnect your PC from the internet until you find and remove the culprit. If you don't it will just keep installing and repeating itself.

well. you are not very soecific. are u using all of them at the same time?
if so, THAT'S THE PROBLEM!!!! you can't mix different av an anty spyware because they won't work or won't protect your computer the same way. when you use different antivirus programs at the same time , it creates some conflicts among the. it's better if you can install only one suite. you can get norton internet security or norton system works. it's really good, and it won't affect your computer's performance, besides keeping your computer protected.

ok we could in basic terms a itemizing of loose softwares that could help a million) Antivirus : AVG antivirus loose version 2) secret agent ware : secret agent ware blaster or lavasoft adaware 3) to block the popups deploy google toolbar 4) deploy winpatrol : which will steer clear of any pointless initiate classes different than whats definitely mandatory restart in risk-free mode and deploy a majority of those softwares then run them one via one..save winpatrol working in any respect circumstances,then relating to the registry except you're specific its a trojan dont attempt to delete it.frequently sypware blaster or adaware can shield it..
