Mine takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

It depends on how many files are on your hardrive, if it has alot it will take longer.

Depends on:

a) Size of the hard drive
b) Number of Files
c) If you are doing anything while running the scan as it would be competing for system resources
d) If it is the first ever scan, it can take longer than usual

The Live Update issue could be a problem (6 Hours). You should contact BT Yahoo Support again about it.

Hi,

the easiet way to answer that is it depends on what is on the computer. For instance how big is the Hard drive, how many files are on it and how much resources does the computer have? (memory processor etc)

The bigger the hard drive the longer it is likely to take as there is more files. However the more resources there is the more it will be able to spread out and the faster the scan will be.
Overall on average a scan can take 30 mins to hour sometimes longer

Hope this helps
Ben

Nortons is pure junk. A Nortons full scan usually takes about 2 hours to scan your entire system, depending on how many running processes you have and how many program you have installed.

Six hours for updates are insane. You should use our keyboard and use, Ctrl, Alt, Del, hold down keys all at the same time. You will see your task mgr., open up on your monitor. Go to process and shut down the updates. You may have to try more then once to get the updates to end as they may be hung-up in the server.

My advise to you is to get rid of Nortons. When you do you will be left with over 375 fragments glued to all your files, folders and registry key. Plus hidden all over your system. Will cause conflict if you try and reinstall.

Get yourself a free excellent antiviurs from AOL, Active Virus Shield, powered by Kaspersky of Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. AOL will only ask u for your email and they will send u a free key good for one year. Req. a new key after the one year.

You wil get updates every hour on the hour, plus excellent background scanner that really works in real time.

The problem is you have incompatible security software on your PC. Norton hardly "gets along" with anyone! LOL. You have to run either AVG or Norton, you can't use both of them. Norton has major incompatibility issues with almost everything.Live update isn't running, it is only making an attempt to connect. My suggestion is ditch Norton, go with the AVG. The only thing you did wrong was to have both security software downloaded on your PC. (Not your fault) Don't believe everything they tell you, it isn't their computer that ends up messed up it's yours. I had to re-format and do a clean install on my Dell desktop. Norton was almost ready to expire and I was offered a trial of Norton System Works. It messed up my computer and they refused to have tech support because it was a trial version. I was running Norton on all 4 of my PC's at the time. Needless to say, Norton isn't on any of them anymore!!!

I'm sure having both Norton and AVG will cause some sort of conflict. Get rid of AVG and Norton and download Avast Home version (Free).

Then reboot your computer, press F8, and run a full system scan in safe mode

Run the Live Update before running the scan. Sometimes with new installations, you have to run it several times to get all the updates applied. This is normal.

Live update is just the latest virus files, and should not take more than a minute!
There is something wrong with your installlation of Norton, re instal it, and try again!

A live update takes about 5mins when just installed but scans are about 20-40mins. And it depends how many file you have on your computer.

Hope this helps!
