AVG has been a better program for me and I want to keep it since I have paid for it for 2 years. It is the best program to have. I've had it for years now. I kept getting viruses etc from Norton and I kept up with all updates etc. How can I disable Norton and enable AVG?

Looked in my Control Panel at the add/remove programs.... Norton isn't listed. Somehow Yahoo must automatically have Norton scan the e-mails. Just worried that having AVG and Norton will have me end up with no anti virus. Maybe I need to ask AVG?

If you're still using Norton as a firewall open the Norton control centre (right click on the icon in the sytem tray, or run it from the start, programs section) go to "Antivrus" and disable it. That way your Norton firewall will continue to protect your PC but the antivirus protection will come from AVG.
Have fun

Have you been running two A/V products simultaneously? That can cause a lot of problems.
Only use one anti-virus product. Running more than one can cause conflicts thus rendering each ineffective. Same goes for firewalls

You don't indicate what Norton product you have. You should be able to disable the antivirus part if you have a full suite such as Norton Internet Security (NIS). If you have only the Norton Anti-virus (NAV) you could completely uninstall it using the uninstaller from Norton.

You can always uninstall it by going into your my computer and then control panel and then to add/remove programs and uninstall everything related to norton. That is the only real way of disabling it permemantly.

I think you just right-click the Norton icon on the taskbar and disable it. Or delete the program completly.

If you're using windows, find "add/remove programs" from your control panel. Locate Norton and click. That should take it all away.
Hope this helps!

If you definetly don't want Norton then you should uninstall it. This will allow you to enable AVG.

Your best bet would be to probably go into control panel, add remove progams, and uninstall it.
