If your security center in your pc, says the firewall is turned off then it should be off. I assume that you are using Windows XP Firewall. You need to have the firewall turned off as it is really not a firewall, when you only get one way protection from incoming rogue packets. A true firewall has to give you two way protection. Protection from rogue packets incoming/and avoids allowing your personal data from leaving your pc without your permission.
If you don't see an icon in your tray that says, "security warning or something like that, that your firewall is not turned off and you have a problem with your windows platform.
Recommend that you download a really true free firewall from ZoneAlarm home free for personal use. http://www.zonealarm.com You will get daily updates if needed and all new versions are download automatic and installed over the old version.

LOL. Yahoo is a website. Yahoo is not a firewall.
However, you should NEVER disable any firewall in order to make a game or some program work, it is a major no-no. Your computer can be attacked or infected with worms and viruses in minutes!
Learn how to properly configure your firewall, but never disable it, even for a minute. A firewall is there for a very good reason: to protect you from hackers!
Firewall is your friend, it is not your enemy!

yahoo does not have a firewall....
the firewall u are referring to is the windows firewall and you can turn on the firewall from the security center, by selecting the firewall option and in the general tab you can turn it on
