a message that i couldn't get rid of kept popping up on my laptop, and it said "This application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem". so i downloaded it and put it into the system32 folder, and now i'm getting a message saying "Incorrect MFC Dll versions installed on the system, minimum requirement is MFC SP4 Dlls". How can i fix this?

Uninstall the ap and reinstall latest version is your best bet. You could get the dll from a reputable online dll library but this is usually more than just a "replace it" issue.

A missing DLL problem is not always solved by downloading the DLL file and putting it into the system32 folder although it does work at times.

You should delete the DLL file, uninstall the application and reinstall it. If the problem still persists, try another installation file for the application. My guess is that the installation file is corrupted.

So what application are we talking about?? Unless you mention the software you are trying to load, no one can help you. Maybe there is something wrong with the installer (setup) file of that software.
